The Gwen meets Kris Kross....

Makes you wanna Jump Jump... Sorry I couldn't help myself. I've had that title in my head for a few weeks now.
So what we did was a basic twist on this hairstyle "the gwen".

We started out about the same. You spray the hair down to get it nice and wet, or straight out of the tub works too.
Do a center part. And then I put one side in a piggy.(I guess I did both sides but don't it's more work if you do)

Then take the unponied side and part it in half. and piggy both halfs. Repeat for the other side.

Now comes the fun part. Starting on either side take one of the piggies out and then take a small section at the bottom out and put hte rest back up. It doenst have to be perfect because its just to keep the hair out of your way. Then put a rubberband around the part left out.

Do that for each section of hair.

Next you do the same thing, take another small section of hair out put the rest back up. Then you reach down to the row below it and take the pony of hair that is diagonal from the loose hair. I like to twist it some to keep it together and then twist it into that loose hair to combine it and add a piggy. For our thin hair it works best to twist it defines the cross more.

Then do it to the one on the same half of the head as before.

Then do it to the other half of the head. So it will look like 2 sets of criss crossed laces going up either half of the head.

You repeat those steps until you run out of hair. For us we stopped at 3, we usually do 4 but someone was getting a little impatient.

When you do the top or last ones make sure you add the hair in from the top of the head also. We have very little hair on top in fact its still growing in, so we added as much of it as we could, and then just combed the rest over to one side of the head. Also when pulling through the top pony you can leave it and not pull it fully through to create a messy piggy/bun, but we got lucky with the curls and it looks cute out, you could sit and curl the hair in the piggies too if you wanted to or if you're subject is sitting really well and willing to let you do so.

I usually do a clip on the top in front to hold the hair back that I combed over but didn't get a pic of it sorry. I've also done just one big bow there too. WE get lots of compliments with this hairstyle! If anyone does this we'd love to see pics of how it turned out!

and just for laughs.. my very patient 1 yr old. What was going on while I was fixing her sisters hair.

Unfortunatly Ive been a sidekick owner for almost 3 years, maybe more if you count "pre-paids" but yeah - with that being said "PEOPLE" believe that sidekicks are a teenagers phone. NOW I'm NOT a fan of listening to people but when something is said constantly from various people, you tend to wonder. I mean i do see alot of teenagers with it, i cant front -_- but at the very same time the majority of my buddylist are people 22+ and they are all sidekick owners. So Idk ive always felt they were pretty convenient especially with the aim feature. But who knows? Think its time for me to update or should I remain loyal to my sidekick =*

Fashionista Files- In the life of a Fashionista!

Let me tell you about real life. Real life is when you have a computer and realize it’s pretty much worthless if you can’t even get on the internet. Do you want to know why I can’t get on the internet? Well, I can’t get on the internet because when the electric company came to fix the electricity (after a big wind storm) they accidently hit the phone cord. Without the phone cord what can’t you do? GET ON THE INTERNET! ARRRRRGGHH!

This is so weird. I am usually on the internet posting my fashion articles on my blogs, looking up fashion information, checking emails, and talking to my Facebook friends but now all I can do is play pinball (who plays pinball anymore???).

You should see me and my family, every five minutes we go and look and see if the internet is working. The phone company says they’ll come fix it on Wednesday, I hope so…. (Sighs) What now? I guess for now I’ll finish enjoying the library computers.

Well BYE!

Curly Hair Basics...

This is for all you out there with a shorty with curly hair and you wonder what you can do with it or what products work best.
For starters lets meet Kyleigh, she's been on here before but now for a formal introduction.... Everyone say, Hi Kyleigh!

As you can see Ky has curly hair. Its cute but takes some work or she looks like this.

When it was shorter we could just scrunch it after she got out of the bath. We all know what scrunching is right? If not i can try and video it for you.
For now what works the best is this. Shower or bath, we recently started using Noodle Head shampoo, we got it at Sally's beauty, but expensive. almost $6 for a bottle of JUST shampoo, I'm cheap what can I say. You can catch it on sale for about 4.50. It does have detangler in with it and has a whole line of products, the mousse and gel and all that fun hair products, but I wasn't willing to spend nearly $6 per item. So i got just the shampoo. It looks like this.

We do NOT use any conditioner in her hair yet and if it gets tangled we just spray it with water, we have also used the Johnson and Johnson's detangling spray.
First thing we do is comb her hair, it gets all the knots and tangles out of it. Boy her hair looks soo long like this.

Next we scrunch it up some to bring the curls back in.

Most days we leave it like this and let it air dry. If we are going out or anything or I'm not doing her hair up, I spray it with Garnier's Curling Shaping Gel.(there was a coupon in the paper in the last couple weeks for $1 off any Garnier styling product so if you want to try it it would make it cheaper)

It doesnt take a lot just spray some on the wet hair and scrunch. You have options here you can scrunch and then leave it to air dry or you can use a hair dryer and scrunch it and blow dry, Or if you want to you can use a diffuser, we've only used a diffuser one time and it worked but i prefer the air dry method.
After all that fuss you get this.

For a simple finish we like to just comb the front/top of the hair over and hold it back with a bow, some of the time we do use a ponytail on the side then the bow. Its getting harder to do now that the hair on top is growing in more and getting thicker and of course curling!
Garnier also has a curling mousse and it work great too. It actually leaves the curls softer than the curling gel. And those of you wanting to try somethign the curling gel WILL make straight hair curly if you spray it and scrunch, if you use a diffuser or a hair dryer it helps it stay longer. The results wont be as curly as someone with natural curls but it will work.
Sorry for the not so good pictures, Little Miss didnt want to sit still for pictures.

Stay tuned next week for a really cute updo!

Chris Brown vs. RiHanna

I figured since no one else has said anything, I would. I am a teen and I know that domestic violence is something that has affected families for centuries, but what could have been the problem in Chris and RiHanna’s relationship that he would be so angry that he would attack her in such a manor? According to reports www.TMZ.com he gave her a pretty good beat down!

But why would such a young couple and new couple have such problems that they would be career ending?

Personally, I think that it has to be a lack of a good role model when it comes to relationships and it also has to be not having the proper guidance. I say this because, as a youth, I don’t see how you would know what to do in a relationship. I mean, we are just learning who we are, so imagine embracing another personality? I stay away from a relationship at such a young age because my parents explained to me what a relationship is all about and I am not yet ready for that. They have a great relationship and it is very involved. They support one another.

I find it complicated to do so as a youth because I have grades that I want to keep up and a budding career that I can not afford to have interfered with. Was there anyone to tell them what they were getting in to or to stop them? I just wonder.

They said that Chris saw his mother beaten and that he cherished women because of that but what made him explode? Did a flashing of what he thinks a man should do to his woman pop into his mind? Or did he lie about his feelings for women? I think the first is more true to his explanation then the latter.

I think what is more disturbing is that they are not too far from my age and there are youth that admire them and now they may follow in their footsteps, especially if they get back together.

Is a teenage love really worth it when there is no proper guidance?

I know for a fact that there is domestic violence in a lot of teen relationships, but my question is will people pay more attention now that it is in the celebrity circle?

A young mind would like to know….

Share your wisdom, elders.

Girl's Nite Out with Shecky in Philly!!!

Okay, Fashionistas!

Here ia a great opportunity that is coming your way and what an event it is! On 2/22-26/09 Shecky's Girls Night Out will be hitting Philly to give you the best shopping expereince of your life! You ask, what is Shecky's Girls Night Out?

It is a great shopping experience for women to hang out with their BFF's and shop til they drop. What makes this event unique is that all of your favorite and new designers are together in one big location. You can go from one vendor to the next getting the ultimate expereince in beauty and fashion under one roof.

What makes this the ultimate shopping event? Well, I had the chance to speak with the co-Founder Claudia Chan about the event and why we ALL should be there!!!!

How did Shecky's Girl Night Out all begin?
My business partner Chris Hoffman started Shecky's 10 years ago as a publishing company specializing in local nightlife guidebooks. I had an event company when I met him in 2001 and in January 2002 we decided to collaborate and evolve Shecky's into multi-platform media company that would include events, publications and Web site content. The first Shecky's Girls Night Out event celebrated a book launch, "The Girl's Guide to NY Nightlife," in Dec. 2001; since then, we've expanded Girls Night Out into almost 20 markets nationwide, including Miami, with the mission to bring women the ultimate girlfriend entertainment experience.

Where did you get the name Shecky's?
The name Shecky's came about thanks to our CEO, Chris Hoffman. Back in his days as a stock broker for Lehman Brothers, he was well-known on the trading floor as a wise-cracking kid and was compared to the likes of comedian Shecky Green, which led to his now infamous nickname, "Shecky."

How does Shecky's help women bond?
Women today are so busy trying to juggle everything - we give them an opportunity to relax and enjoy themselves while doing the things they love all under one roof - something they can't find anywhere else.

Does the event have a place in making a difference in the recession?
Absolutely! Shecky's Girls Night Out will play such an important and necessary role in today's economy because we are able to offer women that "splurge, indulge and pamper" experience without breaking the bank. A $25-$30 event ticket offers women access to amazing fashion, beauty, lifestyle finds at great prices, five hours of complimentary beverage bars, exciting sponsored activities that often include free makeovers, manicures, massages etc., an ultimate Goodie Bag that typically includes up to $100 of products, plus an amazing night out and experience with their closest girlfriends. Even if one of your friends doesn't want to shop, she can still have a night out with her closest friends and not break the bank. Additionally, most of the items at Shecky's Girls Night Out are offered at a special promotional price so you can update your wardrobe and stay within your budget.

How does it help the economy?
In today's economy, retailers are finding new and novel ways to reach consumers. In a time where stores aren't seeing nearly enough foot traffic to generate sales, Shecky's provides retailers with thousands of women each night at a time when they are most likely to make a purchase. If the women don't come to the retailers, the retailers come to Shecky's

In addition to helping out retailers, Shecky's is also in tune with it's consumers. Today's consumers are looking beyond traditional shopping outlets to find the best value for their dollar - leading them to consumer events, like Shecky's Girls Night Out, to score the best deals.

What do ladies like most about Shecky's?
Our fashion vendors are also a huge hit with event attendees- we search for the hottest emerging designers in the marketplace.

What is one of the most memorable events thus far?
Last year, we had a group of women from Connecticut charter two busses to bring them to Shecky's Girls Night Out in New York. When they arrived it was quite a scene - they even had "Shecky's Girls Night Out" listed as the destination on the front of each bus.

What can newbie's expect with the Shecky's experience?
Shecky's Girls Night Out
includes everything you need for the ultimate night out with your girlfriends: up-and-coming designer fashions at up to 75 percent off, the season's latest cocktail creations, complimentary spa services and Shecky's famous Goodie Bags.

Product sampling varies from market to market, but brands such as Dove go fresh, BORBA Skin Balance Water, Nintendo DS and Crunch Fitness are participating in our Atlanta event. You can also try the latest cocktails from brands like Chambord. We also have fun activities like makeovers, hair styling consultations, manicures, hand- and body-massages and tons of product giveaways - everything from body wash to hair ties!

How is Shecky's Young, Hip & Chic?
Shecky's is the online and event destination for what's cool and undiscovered in FASHION, BEAUTY and FUN with the girls.
From emerging designers to great beauty discoveries, delicious cocktails to free giveaways- Shecky's offers a wonderland for girls to SHOP, SAMPLE & SCORE the world of things girls love - Now that's Young Hip & Chic!

NOTE: Now, I am sorry to disappoint you ladies but I will not actually be there physically, but my mom and dad will be there to cover the event for me. Please be sure to look for them and give me a shout out! I would love to know what you purchased and what you thought of the whole Shecky experience!

GETTING EMO LOOK

Getting That Emo Look

What does it mean to be emo? To be emo, you have to know its history and effect in its followers. The emo punk movement began in the early ‘80’s, which began a new wave of devout followers of rock music.

However, by the early ‘90’s, the emo movement began to cool down and became unpopular. This would not be the case for long. By the late ‘90’s, the movement was born again – with a new generation of devout followers. The movement has been going strong ever since then.

To put it plainly, being emo is about expressing your innermost feelings and being a part from “normal” people. Being emo is about being unique and emotional. You can cry without worrying about being ridiculed by others, wear hair and clothes of different colors that express your feelings, and just being yourself.

So how does one adopt the emo look and style? The answer is easy and so is the transformation to being an emo. If you’re ready to step into the world of becoming emo, you will need the following:

1. A dark or light eye shadow
2. Dark or light eye liner (liquid or crystal)
3. Mascara (color is your choice)
4. Chapstick or light lipstick tones
5. Loose powder (one that is a shade or two lighter than the tone of your skin)
6. Moisturizer

Follow the below steps for adopting the emo style:

1. Apply the moisturizer to your neck and face. Make sure the moisturizer is firmly applied to these areas, or the makeup won’t last very long. To give an added look to your emo face, use moisturizers that are made with sun block. This makes the face look more pale.

2. Since being emo rests on you looking pale, you should make sure your face look as pale as possible. To achieve this, you would take the color foundation and apply it to your skin.

3. After that, you would take the powder and apply it to your skin. If you’re a girl and wear tops that show the upper chest area, put the powder on that area as well.

4. Place a bit of the eye shadow around the eyes. If you’re a guy, skip this step or use black or gray eye shadows. If you’re a girl, use pink, red, purple, green, black, and grey eye shadows.

5. Take away any excess eye shadow on top of the eyelids by brushing it off with a Q- tip. For beginners, use a soft, black eyeliner and apply it on the upper and inner part of the eyes. Try to stay close to the eyelash line when going this. For experienced people, use should use liquid eyeliners.

6. Apply the loose powder to keep the makeup in place.

7. Use and put two coats of black mascara around the eyes. Make sure not to put them too close together, or this will mess up the makeup.

8. If you’re a guy, use lip balm to place around your mouth. For girls, use pale or light-colored-lipstick, to finish off your emo look.

Best/Worst Dressed at 51st Grammys

Hey Fashionistas:

The 51st Grammys was really good this year. I heard a lot of my favorite songs. But the most important thing was what the celebrities were wearing!

Whitney Houston

She looked really good after making a huge recovery! I really loved her Zuhair Murad dress, but her hair wasn’t my favorite. All in all she looked great! One question, was it me or did she look like Tina Turner!?

Jennifer Hudson

I have to give my condolences to Jennifer for the horrible passings of her family. I really give her props. She went up in front of all those people and sung a beautiful song. I really didn’t like her Roland Mouret Resort dress but I really loved her hair. She really looked good in her second outfit.

Dwayne Johnson

I think that he was really nervous because when he was introducing the next act he didn’t do very well. But he looked really fashion conscious with his black suit.

Carrie Underwood

Talking about FAB! I really loved her champagne colored China Mort mini with gladiator straps.

LeAnn Rimes

This was one of my favorites because it reminds me of something I could wear. It was a turquoise and brown dress by Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti. It looked so native!

Katy Perry

Even though her dancing wasn’t up to par, I really loved her glittery Josephine Baker- like banana dress. It was full of color just like her song! Looooooved the backup dancers white suits and their fedoras.

Estelle/Kanye West

Even though my mom and I love when Estelle sings “American Boy” we DID NOT like her Bernard Chandran dress. They were in my opinion one of the worst. I really didn’t feel the Chanel Kanye was wearing along with that 80s hair do. It was a mess! He looked like Turbo from the movie Breakin’!

Adele

Man this girl can sing and from what I can see she can dress too. I really loved sleek LBD. Hey, Big girls can dress snazzy too!!!

Lil Wayne, Jay-Z, T.I, and Kanye

They looked really good other than a few small things that aren’t that fashionable.

M.I.A

She did really good on stage (especially for a woman due for birth the same day) even though House of Holland outfit was hideous!

T.I

I loved his black coat. The only thing I really hated was his hat (what was it doing on the tip of his head????).

Tell me what you think, leave a comment!

Fashionably Out,

Tweety E.

I look forward to the Ocars!!!!!!
